The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is a collaborative, national research infrastructure funded by the Australian Government.

Undertaking systematic and sustained observation of Australia’s marine estate, the IMOS makes all data openly available for science and research purposes. Its observations of surface waves, currents, and other ocean properties relate directly to the ocean energy industry, and are also used to inform the numerical ocean models we rely on.

The IMOS also hosts the Australian Forum for Operational Oceanography (FOO) – aiming to connect the R&D sector, government agencies, service providers and marine industries in the hopes of driving greater development of our blue economy through high quality marine science.
